our history & heritage
The practice A P Robinson & Co was started in 1994 by Andrew Robinson who became a Chartered Accountant in 1991. We started with a handful of clients, but has since grown to become one of the largest independent practices in the region.
The practice was soon joined by Emma Brook in 1997 and shortly after by Sarah Bainbridge in 1998 as trainee accountants who began their path to becoming qualified. Emma became the first employee to qualify as an accountant under the firm's name soon followed by Sarah in 2008. The practice has been committed ever since to training new team members and has a number of initiatives to train up to qualified accountant level and beyond further enhancing the skills our people need to advise clients in a dynamic and complex business environment. Both Emma and Sarah became partners in 2012 and respectively 2017 and we soon saw our first acquisition when the firm purchased Cooke Webster in Barton.
After the pandemic A P Robinson took on its most ambitious project by purchasing Blow Abbott in 2021 one of the longest standing firms in the area. In 2023 Rebecca Brown, who joined the firm in 2006 was made a Managing Associate. Rebecca joined the firm as a receptionist but found her true passion to be payroll where she now oversees a team of 7 equally dedicated staff.

All Chartered Accountants and Chartered Certified Accountants have studied accounting to the highest level and have completed 3 to 5 years work experience to gain the qualification. They will also be required to hold professional indemnity insurance to protect clients, have to undergo continuing professional education by going on courses and further study each year and are continually monitored by their professional body to make sure they meet the required standard.
